We visited several people at the Sri Lankan Ministry of Labor in Colombo to discuss the inclusion of People With Disabilities in the current job search preparation courses offered within the country.
This meeting went very well. Sri Lankans are very pleasant and easy to work with. The work environment is friendly and easy going.
I'm pleasantly surprised by how supportive people are towards the inclusion of people with disabilities.
Disabilities, more commonly referred to as "diversity" in politically correct terms, come in many varieties. Most commonly are those who are missing limbs or have deformities, those who are visually impaired, those who are hearing impaired, and those that are mentally impaired.
LCD helps all of these people in great ways:
1. Health & rehabilitation
2. Livelihoods (finding employment)
3. Advocacy & campaigning - building awareness of people with disabilities and their rights
The photos taken here are from the display at the Colombo Disability Resource Center. The posters show the rights of people with disabilities. There are also aids available to people with disabilities on display.
